As some of you know I am a big lover of Arch. Since I switched when Fedora went all Gnome 3 on me I've really enjoyed Arch and the XFCE environment.
It has however driven me to breaking point. There is so much I enjoy about it but the last couple of weeks I have spent more time trying to get things to work than actually using it.
Last night was just too much and after much diliberation I have switched my main OS to Fedora 17 XFCE.

I'm going to miss Arch, I will be keeping it on a second machine to play around with, but maybe now I can get some actual work done!!
I did use Compiz Fusion, for my sins, on my Arch setup because I liked some of the functions. The two main ones were the
Expo, which zooms out to show you all workspaces, and
Scale, which spreads all open windows across the desktop to switch between them. Scale is similar to Expose in OSX, don't hate me... it's a good effect!!
Fedora have dropped Compiz now and the only way to get around it that I've found is to use F16 repos, which I don't really want to do.
Anyway, my question is as follows; does anyone know of any other way of getting these effects, or something similar, without Compiz?
Thoughts and ideas are appreciated...
