As some of you know I am a big lover of Arch. Since I switched when Fedora went all Gnome 3 on me I've really enjoyed Arch and the XFCE environment.
It has however driven me to breaking point. There is so much I enjoy about it but the last couple of weeks I have spent more time trying to get things to work than actually using it.
Last night was just too much and after much diliberation I have switched my main OS to Fedora 17 XFCE.
I'm going to miss Arch, I will be keeping it on a second machine to play around with, but maybe now I can get some actual work done!!
I did use Compiz Fusion, for my sins, on my Arch setup because I liked some of the functions. The two main ones were the Expo
, which zooms out to show you all workspaces, and Scale
, which spreads all open windows across the desktop to switch between them. Scale is similar to Expose in OSX, don't hate me... it's a good effect!!
Fedora have dropped Compiz now and the only way to get around it that I've found is to use F16 repos, which I don't really want to do.
Anyway, my question is as follows; does anyone know of any other way of getting these effects, or something similar, without Compiz?
Thoughts and ideas are appreciated...
