Maybe "Door" would be a better name ? .. for a few reasons.

Mmm .. play word association with "door" and you end up in the same place;

Door .. Exit .. Leaving .. Going .. Gone .. Past .. Obsolete .. History .. Memories .. Bad Memories .. Windows!

See?   ;-)

Yup, that was my first line of thought .. then I realised doors are also often used to lock people in, or to hide contents, or limit access, etc.

The Internet, in a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates ...  ;D

I do miss Novell ...

Doors also generally require you to purchase a key :)

I'll resist the "knob" jokes ;)

With its two separate UI's I'm surprised I haven't seen Windows 8 referred to as double-glazed yet .. or maybe I just haven't looked hard enough (read "can't be bothered").

Oh dear. Whoever put that Linux advert together needs some lessons in advertising.

It looks like a commercial for anti-burglary/home security products. It explains nothing, is only meaningful to those already in the know and would almost certainly lead to no increased useage and a slew of letters from angry people who, having had their houses broken into by Johnny Crackhead, are disappointed that you think that installing new software on their computer (and how many people know how to install an OS?) is going to help them in any way.

What you need is a montage of BSOD's (seen them several times on Windows 7), "your computer is infected" warning messages, "this software is not compatible with this version of Windows" messages, followed by a shot/s of someone happily getting on with stuff on a Linux PC.
Be silent, or say something better than silence.

Funny though :)

Seriously I doubt if it was an "advert" as such .. who would have made it ? .. the Linux Foundation ?

Strikes me as more of a joke with a message.
