Whilst upgrading to 12.04 it got to less than 1 minute to go and then this

What do you guys suggest?
left it hanging for now awaiting your wisdom.

First, what are you upgrading FROM Ubuntu 10.04 LTS .. or Ubuntu 11.04 ?

I was going from 11.10 to 12.04.
Given that I couldn't think of anything better to do I restarted it manually and it was fine.
Only thing now is how to get the screensaver set.
Out of curiosity though, what happened?

Dunno what happened

If I were you, I'd check that your software sources (/etc/apt/sources.list) have all been changed to precise from oneiric .. including any PPA's you've added (easiest to check these in Synpatic .. which you'll have to install).

Then and ONLY then .. run:
