run:
sudo mv -v /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.old
Be aware .. Linux commands ARE case sensitive .. so that's a capital X in the 2 X11's
any errors ?

That's fine .. run:
sudo shutdown -P now
When your system shuts down .. turn it back on.
Does it boot to the desktop ?

We're not quite finished yet
open a terminal and run:
Code:
[Select]
jockey-gtk
When "Additional Drivers" opens .. highlight the:-
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (post-release updates ) (version 173-updates)
driver .. and click the "
Enable
" button.
Wait till it's finished installing .. then close additional drivers and reboot.

Ok, I did that, but when I closed all the windows to restart, desktop freezed and the mouse is the only thing that is active. If I press alt+ctrl and F2 to go to the console and shut down and then boot is ok? Or after a install you have to restart only??

Those are the actual proprietary drivers from NVIDIA .. the original drivers you were using were the open source ones (nouveau), and they're not as good
