I say, if I had installed one other driver from those proprietary it would be the same? I mean, how did you know that I had to install THIS driver? You understand sth from the name? This that we have installed now, is the driver that nvidia says you should have this only?

Additional drivers is offering you ALL the proprietary NVIDIA drivers .. but for this graphics card you can ONLY use either one of the ones with "173" in the name .. any of the others will break your graphics.

I got the info that your card was supported by the 173 drivers by checking the "Supported Products" tab here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-173.14.28-driver
