OK, now you have linux-headers-generic and build-essential installed (which are needed to compile the drivers), run these commands in sequence:
Code: [Select]
mkdir ~/wireless-drivers
then
Code: [Select]
cd ~/wireless-drivers
then
Code: [Select]
wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11876059/DPO_RT5572_LinuxSTA_2.6.1.3_20121022.tar.gz
then
Code: [Select]
tar -xvf DPO_RT5572_LinuxSTA_2.6.1.3_20121022.tar.gz
then
Code: [Select]
cd ~/wireless-drivers/DPO_RT5572_LinuxSTA_2.6.1.3_20121022
then
Code: [Select]
sudo su
then
Code: [Select]
make
then
Code: [Select]
make install
then
Code: [Select]
exit
then
Code: [Select]
sudo modprobe -r rt2800usb
then
Code: [Select]
sudo modprobe rt5572sta

Now has wireless sprung to life ?

It appears that "BT wifi" is unprotectd (public) so it will connect without encryption.
See if it connects to Plusnet if you temporaily disable protection.
If that works then see if wpa_supplicant is installed.

When you say it won't connect .. what exactly fo you mean ? .. and can you walk me through what it is you're doing to try connect, and what it's asking you for ?
(obviously don't post your password/key)

First (in your router) change your wireless channel to channel 8 .. there a multiple networks on channel1 (and 6 and 11).

Then see if your router is set to wireless "N" ONLY ? .. if it is, try changing it to "G" or any setting that includes "G" (54Mbps)
