Using the port listed in the above config file (49200), it's forwarded to the front room XboX.
as there's 2 XboX's someone on the Netgear Forum recommended to put the other XboX in the DMZ!
Thinking about it, you're right - There should be NO need to fort forward to anything!

Remove the changes you made to the router .. they're not necessary.

what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
ls -al /home/pooky2483/Ushare
?

If you've removed the router firewall rules .. restart ushare and the xboxes.

What happens if you start ushare as root:
Code: [Select]
sudo killall ushare
then
Code: [Select]
sudo ushare

Does it matter at all that every time I run it, the port number increases?
192.168.1.201:49200
192.168.1.201:49201
192.168.1.201:49202

192.168.1.201:49204
192.168.1.201:49205...

It's probably increasing because you're not terminating the already running ushare.

run:
Code: [Select]
sudo killall ushare
then what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
ushare -vx

just as a test .. run:
Code: [Select]
mkdir ~/usharetest
then
Code: [Select]
sudo kate /etc/ushare.conf

and change the line:-

USHARE_DIR=/home/pooky2483/Ushare

to

USHARE_DIR=/home/pooky2483/usharetest

SAVE the fie.

now copy a single mp3 file to the directory called "usharetest" in your home folder.

reboot.

reboot the xbox .. then go to "Music" on the xbox .. is the mp3 visible ?

[EDIT]

See the UPDATE at the top of this page:
