Following on from my thread @Right click delete'.  I thought I would start a new topic on why I had this ossue.

I wanted to remove the translucent (or whatever other name it has).  After messing about with opacity etc I lost the use of right click in menus and folders.

How can I simply have solid windows on PM5?

I am trying to edit a jpg file on my laptop (PM5).  the file was downloaded to a usb drive from my main computer (PM5)

I am getting this;

Saving '/media/a/3D3B-BE1A/Chickens/mouse.jpg' failed:

Read-only file system

Any ideas?

I think I asked this ages ago. Here goes again!
How do I add 'delete' to the right click menu?
  I have now cocked up the menu system by altering transparency.  No menus can now be seen.

I just installed Truecrypt on my New (ish) laptop but it says it is no longer supported.  I looked at cross platform (Andriod and Linux) alternatives and chose AESCrypt.
I downloaded the 32bit version and installed via GDebi.

The thing is it will not launch. When I click on it it says......'Invalid arguments, a single filename is required'

I have looked at all methods (that I know of uninstalling but cannot find a way).
Any ideas welcome and....................I will accept all the critism of installing from unknown sources.   

I am having problems installing Dropbox in a recently installed version of PM5.  When I click the Dropbox icon in the internet section it comes up with 'In order to use Dropbkx you must download the propriety daemon'
I have done this several times and it just locks at 'download compete 100%'
Software manger shows it's installed but won't show on task bar even after reboot.
Any ideas?

I am trying to install PM5 along Windows 7 on a Dell D430
  I am using a live USB.  The only option I am goptions I am getting is to completely remove Windows 7 not install alongside.  Any ideas?

My neighbor has a Windows pc ( 8 I think) and it has floating porn adds appearing.  She has asked me if I can get rid of them (she has the same problem on her Andriod phone).  I was thinking of using one of the Linux live usb distro's.  Which would be the best?  I havn't  seen her pc yet so cannot be specific as to the exact problem.

Hello.  I am trying to install Peppermint 5 over Mint 16.  I have to keep the Windows Vista partition for my Wife.  When I try to install it only allows me to Overwrite all partitions or alongside.  I need to put it on the Mint one.  Can anyone help?

First off I apologise for asking a Windows based question but I cannot bring myself to go one of their forums.


My neighbours Dad died recently and his Windows 7 laptop cannot be opened because they don't know the password.  I have been onto the hard drive with a Siltaz live usb and there is virtually no files and certainly nothing private etc!  They just want to use the Acer laptop.  I can't find any rescue discs but I can get into the rescue partition using Siltaz.  I've tried a couple of password crack programs and they both say that it is blank.  when I try it blank it doesn't work.  Password hint says 'Book'.  We have tried them all.  Any suggestions?

I recently had trouble with my Andriod phone booting (it has a custom rom).  So I thought I would flash another rom using odin.  Odin only works with Windows so I had to download odin from a file sharing site.  I used my wife's lapotop which has vista and double clicked the Exe for Odin.  No surprises then that I infected her laptop with all sorts of crap.  flashing screen adverts for gambling and..... Ahem... webcam stuff! I totally forgot how insecure Windows is because I use Linux so much.  Two hours of reinstalling Vista and programs tells it's own story!

I have just purchased a  64gb micro Sandisk sdxc uhs-1 card.  I cant get Peppermint 5 or Mint16 to recognise it properly.   My Android phone won't recognise it either.

Any suggestions.

Looking forward to Peppermint 5.  I recently installed Mint 16 on My business system and I'm not fussed on it.  If only PCmanFM would recognize volumes quicker it would be perfect but sometimes I can wait 20 minutes for it to recognize a usb stick....sometimes not at all. I have to use Thunar file manager and it works instantly.

Anybody got any clues as to what we can expect?  Is it LTS?

I just saw a screen shot of Emegra's monitor with Docky on.  So I thought I would give it a go.  I have installed it in Mint but will also try in Peppermint.  The thing is Even when I put icons onto it on reboot they disappear (mostly) leaving only 4 or 5.  I can't seem to find anywhere in settings to save configuration.
Any ideas?

When I open a folder of jpg's in Mint or Peppermint I only see the file type is there a way of seeing a small thumbnail?

HI.  I'm using my spare Logik 21" tv as a monitor but the display is awful regardless of the dpi settings.  It's soft and not sharp.  I'm using the on board graphics card on the base unit, a Dell Optiplex 755.  Would a cheapo pci graphics card help?

Just got an email from Ubuntu saying it is closing it's Ubuntu One service from June 1st.  Shame.

I know I must have has my head in the sand but I've never heard of Mageia.  I was reading one of the Linux glossies in Tesco's and it was recommending it. In fact it said is was better than Mint as Mint only had one person covering it!? Wheras Mageia had a large team.  what is it based on?  is it any good?

Hi.  I'm buying a refurbished base unit that I intend to install Mint or Peppermint along side.  My question is Windows related...... Sorry.
I want to fit a larger hard drive to it but the unit comes with windows preinstalled and not with a disk how can I transfer the Windows recovery partition onto the newer drive.  Thanks.

Tried several times with my usual password had to change it in the end via reset.
