Linux Support / How do I access my NAS in dolphin
November 17, 2020, 09:52:38 PM
I have recently bought a Synology NAS DS3617XS and would like to access it through Dolphin file browser.
How do I make this possible as I have no idea...

I also want to be able to write to my NAS, as at the moment, I am unable to save anything to it unless I connect an external Hard Drive to it and transfer what files I want to move. Also, I want certain programs to have access to my NAS.

I'm running Kubuntu 18.04

Is it possible to delete a folder and it's contents without knowing it's location.
I need to do this to remove config files and other traces of a previously installed program so I can reinstall without the program using old config files not removed during --purge.
Linux Support / tty & fault finding

I commented on a youtube video  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOOkfGv58u0&lc=UgxxkECfPIK4FVmD-YJ4AaABAg.8qKcJOHfkgA90EO9hG4_ab)about a system locking up and being unrecoverable and someone came back with using tty3 to find out whats causing problems.

My Kubuntu 16.04 Desktop locks up and sometimes I can move the mouse but not select anything and other times the computer completley locks up where I can't do anything other than force a reboot.

When in tty, what commands do I use to find out what's wrong - what's causing it to lock up?

Computer has now completley locked up since coming out of tty and getting back to the desktop, the mouse pointer is nowhere to be seen and no amount of moving the mouse will make it visible again. How do I get out of this lock up of my system?

Found out how to get a list of python keywords...
In IDLE, enter the following;

import keyword

['False', 'None', 'True', 'and', 'as', 'assert', 'async', 'await', 'break', 'class', 'continue', 'def', 'del', 'elif', 'else', 'except', 'finally', 'for', 'from', 'global', 'if', 'import', 'in', 'is', 'lambda', 'nonlocal', 'not', 'or', 'pass', 'raise', 'return', 'try', 'while', 'with', 'yield']

I know exactly what you're saying.
What I was looking for was something like a list of the 'commands' in a sort of index so I could see all of them in one place, not just throughout a manual, which does not cover every single one.

Just wondering where I can get a full list of Python (3.7.4) commands as I'm struggling to find a list anywhere, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place(s) or not using the correct search term(s).

Thanks Mark.
I never knew that there were so many terminal commands, including extra ones installed afterwards.

I am going to create a dual boot of Kubuntu 16.04 & 18.04 and would like to have an almost identical setup and would like to install the same terminal commands I have in the already installed Kubuntu 16.04, such as 'alien' which is not a standard command.

How can I list all the available commands in terminal?
Thanks for that, I'll take a look at the link.
I'm looking for something which will protect me against malware & stuff such as keyloggers while browsing.
Free or otherwise.
My OS etc is listed below.

Many thanks
I have no idea how but I think I've fixed it.
How do i get virtualbox to see my printer?
I can see all my USB Hard Drives but not a USB printer (Epson ET-3600)
I've got the latest version of Virtualbox and the extension pack (installed) and the guest additions iso
I'm having problems installing the guest additions as the instructions I find upon Googlin' how to install guest additions are only how to do it with a virtual ubuntu.
As a test, I've uninstalled Dolphin and with the link you gave me, I downloaded the rest of the files, 6 in total.
I then started to install them, I then encountered the same problem as above, 'cant satisfy dependencies' when trying to install 'libdolphinvcs-dev_16.04.3-0ubuntu1_amd64.debdolphin'.

I am also informed that there's a newer version in the repo's when installing 'dolphin_16.04.3-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb'.

Upon trying to install the first package, I get 'Unable to satisfy dependencies' error.
Programming / I want to learn machine/assembly language
December 10, 2018, 06:08:48 PM
Many years ago, When I had a Commodore 16 (which had a built in 6502 assembler) I used to hack into games and edit them.
What I'd like to do is try and continue where I left off, but obviously on a modern up-to-date processor.
Where do I begin, what do I need to install to start writing/editing machine assembly language, where can I download any documentation/manuals to help refresh my memory?
