I have a feeling we've tried this before, but what happens if you run:
Code: [Select]
sudo aticonfig --initial -f
?

sudo aticonfig --initial -f

No supported adapters detected.

Hi,

No option in Catalyst Control Centre.

Accelarated GPU in VLC selected already..

However symptoms are the same using SMplayer, built in media player and VLC !!

When using Openshot symptoms become increased.

Somewhere in your menu's you should find an application called "Ubntu AMD Catalyst Installer" .. have you found that and run it yet ?

This was not on the menu until this morning. However when I access it and press OK nothing happens !

Running those 3 commands doesn't install the driver .. it installs an application that downloads and configures the driver.

Have you followed the rest of the instructions here:
http://www.noobslab.com/2013/04/install-ati-amd-catalyst-drivers-in.html
?

If you did that, did you enable hardware video acceleration ?

I am sorry Mark, I don't quite understand it !!!

Hi,

Entered 3 lines above one at a time, re-booted. Alas.....just the very same !

Disappointing, as everything else is fine.

Thanks again to all for their input.

Emegra,

Thanks for reply.

Can enter 1st command no problem.

However 2nd returns this.....tony@Tony-pc:~$ sudo apt-get -f install wget -O ati-amd-v2.4-NoobsLab64.deb http://goo.gl/dylWp
E: Command line option 'O' [from -O] is not known.

Played with this all yesterday and today. There seems to be some incompatibility between Openshot and Zorin / Mint 16 and Ubuntu.

Placing the SD in Win 8 with Camtasia pictures are smooth as silk.

Trying really hard not to pull the trigger on Win 8 !!!
