Hi,
I need a bit of help here about email I will call them clients, i.e.  Thunderbird and Evolution ,first let me explain a friend of my has an email address with AOL as we all know they closing down so he wants to moved over to a new client, so as he understands it AOL will not support the messaging service indefinitely so he choose Thunderbird, but if he requires a new email address will he have to purchase this, which is how it appears to me.

General Discussion / Administrator or User
« on: September 11, 2017, 04:01:47 pm »
So is it better to use your favorite Linux Distro as a Administrator or a User, is it safer in one than the other, and if it's User what setting should you change if any so that a User can run the Linux Distro on an ever day basis. Or should you even care about whether your a Administrator or a User.

General Discussion / Linux in the Windows Store
« on: May 14, 2017, 07:37:22 pm »
I have to says when I was reading Gadgets360,( http://gadgets.ndtv.com/apps/news/microsoft-windows-store-itunes-ubuntu-suse-fedora-linux-distributions-1692629 ) I was pleased to see that Microsoft has allowed Ubuntu into the Windows Store, and at a furture date Fedora and SUSE will be in the store, OK I know  for  visualized environment, but then why is Microsoft allowing Linux Distros, OK so iTunes is also going to be there but why are they doing this for Linux. Can’t help but feel something just no right here.

General Discussion / Re: I want to use Linux so very VERY much
« on: February 27, 2017, 03:18:39 pm »
I always tell people who want to go over to Linux, first go to Distro watch, have a look at the different distro there, and consider the PC  specification your going to install this version of Linux onto. Then pick say three or four and go to You Tube and have a look at some reviews then decide which will be best for you and what you do with your particular PC i.e. surf the web, watch movies, play games, photography.
If all else fails install Ubuntu, Mint (cinnamon)  Lubuntu, Zorin, are few to be getting along with, it's not hard to reinstall a Distro should you not like the one you picked.

Hi, If I'm upstanding this, you want to reinstall Windows 10 onto your Acer if you installed Windows 10 onto your laptop  from a fresh install or an upgrade you can go to this site  https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 and download windows 10 and reinstall.

Microsoft now keep the information so you can now reinstall without any problems they will authorized the COA code automatically, however this only works if you have had Windows 10 installed at some point.

General Help & Advice / Re: Help With career change

Hi, I am in a similar position to for different circumstances, first you need to have a understanding of Linux including the command line (very important), than you will need to have a look around your local area  to see if there are any courses at college, if it's like my area your going to have to learn on-line, there are a lot of free and cheap courses around some are useless some very good but can be a little confusing , but a good starting point, books try reading Unix System Administration Handbook read and understand your on your way.

Just Google the courses, do a lot of looking around, and decide what area you want to go into you you may like  System Administration  or Networking or something else , there are a lot of choices however what I have found is what I learn t is not always what I was trying to do in the real world.

I have tried to keep this brief so as not whittle on  but the problem is when getting a qualification is finding a job, experience was a problem just like anything else then there's  age they like to employ youngsters these days for there own reasons. Also some company’s would employ Microsoft qualified people others would want both Linux and Microsoft and other just Linux.

I would try to stay with company’s such as Red Hat and Ubuntu  and well know on line learning colleagues, in the none commercial world in the UK not many people even know of Linux and those that do can fix most of there problems themselves or get advice on forums  and put two and two together. The Internet is your friend here and you will find a lot of the courses are   from the USA.

I have now resolved all my picture and video problems on Linux Mint, except one and that’s Sky Go surprise surprise. It appears that the issue with my Browser was an add on call Quickjava I can only think it was causing conflict with Pipelight or Silverlight or both of some kind, however when you remove the plugin your browsers retains the settings that Quickjava had so you have to reset Firefox, and then only reinstall the plugins you want.
I am able to watch Netflex and some other on line program that I have, but not got Sky Go and have had no success in anyway, which odd because I was watching this just before Christmas and before New Year,  I can only think that Sky have changed there set-up in some way which now stops Linux user watching Sky go so that’s money down the drain.
I’m not saying don't use Quickjava or it's a bad plugin it just never worked for me, and I can only say to Sky well your losing good customers because of your policy of not wanting Linux users very sad and very poor.
I like to thank everyone who tried to help it's been great project now thats it's fixed.

Thank you for your help, I have now tried this,so as you say we can now rule out, firefox config/cache/addon issue.
I have now downloaded all files and folders and am going to reinstall Linux Mint just to see if that works if not I will reconsidor where I go next,
bid of a hair puller this one I have only had little silly problems with Linux in the two or a bit more years that I have been using it and I have to say I feel this just a frustrating problem that I will find an answer for eventually.

I’m still left with the same problem, I have tried removing add blocker, and I have also tried  disabling  each plugin and add on but still nothing. This has happen on two PCs one Intel and one AMD and a Lenovo laptop all over Christmas.I have now uninstalled Linux Mint from one PCs and am going to do a fresh install tomorrow so we see what happens.I have also use clamtk and Comodo  and Eset NOD32 just in case also check with F-Secure Router checker all fine.
