One of the best examples of Sales people crap was in PC World (no shock).  I asked the 'Google girl' if I could install Linux on a Chrome book, her answer........Yes, just drop it on the floor on the corner of said laptop and crack it....inside is an SD card slot!  Yep, great idea.....not.

That would make the Atari STE a SUPER computer, as they used to wipe the floor with Amiga's.    ;) ;) ::)

Peppermint / Transluscent windows
« on: November 06, 2014, 10:16:33 am »
Following on from my thread @Right click delete'.  I thought I would start a new topic on why I had this ossue.

I wanted to remove the translucent (or whatever other name it has).  After messing about with opacity etc I lost the use of right click in menus and folders.

How can I simply have solid windows on PM5?
Thanks
Adam

I've written a "file manager action" to add "Delete" to the right-click context menu (as well as "move to Trash"), but there is no "easy" way to get it to prompt for confirmation .. so I can tell you how to add it, but it will NOT give you any chance to change your mind, it wil just delete the file/folder without confirmation.

Still wanna know how ?

Yes please!

I am trying to edit a jpg file on my laptop (PM5).  the file was downloaded to a usb drive from my main computer (PM5)

I am getting this;

Saving '/media/a/3D3B-BE1A/Chickens/mouse.jpg' failed:

Read-only file system

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Mark.

I tried a different mouse, booted into an earlier kernel and used the commands that you posted.  Nothing worked.  In the end  I just deleted the partition using a Live PM5 usb and Gparted then re-installed.  I copied files to a USB stick using keyboard commands.  All in took 15 minutes.  Try doing that in Windows!

Thanks for your efforts though.

Hello Mark.

Peppermin5
I'll just live with the delete problem.  It's the drop down menu problem.  It isn't just file manager, it's everything. For example, the Peppermint menu button on the bottom left, it won't do anything if I click on it.
Help!......I'm having to use Windows.   :-*

Update.
In fact right click anything doesn't work.

I think I asked this ages ago. Here goes again!
How do I add 'delete' to the right click menu?
I have now cocked up the menu system by altering transparency.  No menus can now be seen.  :-[

Thanks

General Help & Advice / Re: Removing AESCrypt

I know. You have been a big help.  I just altered the permissions for the disk in 'Disks' and can read it no problem now.  I will have a think on how I want to secure my files over the next couple of days.
Thanks
Adam

Thanks.  I think I'll give it a miss.   :o

I have not tried it from that source but managed to dig out the one before that (7.1).  it's fine, the problem is I can't access my files as they are locked.
Every time I change permissions they revert back to read only.  I'm assuming it's because they were written on my old computer.
