« on: September 21, 2021, 01:50:02 pm »
Hi to all

Because there is a windows laptop on the LAN I use samba to share files on all computers on the LAN.

Also noticed that if I try to open the network shares on the peppermint laptop it asks for a password and the user name and password for the computer is rejected.

Linux Support / Log in requested for samba shares in Peppermint

Hi something strange.

Set up shares on my peppermint laptop with anyone can access.

Can see the shares from my mint 19.3 desktop but when I try to access from the desktop a password is requested.

I tried entering the user name and password for the laptop and for the desktop but can not login.

In the other direction on problems accessing shares on the mint system from peppermint.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I use a program called K3b for all CDs and DVDs it has worked for me on different versions of mint over the years.

If not in your package or software manager -

Thanks for the info but have now given up on this adaptor.
Have put a comment on the site where I bought it saying it is no longer working with newer versions of LINUX.

Mint 19.3 64bit mate.

I installed this wi-fi adapter and all seemed OK indicator light working and can see the different wi-fi networks.

However, it will not log in to any networks box comes up for password but will not connect.

Any suggestions.

Yes the problem was fixed as the drivers were offer as part of installing mint 19.3 mate 64bit.

Thanks for your information.

In the end I did a clean installation of mint 19.3 mate 64bit.

Thanks for that info.

I am not using the 340 driver.

The 390 driver is newer and was working just fine until I tried to use the older driver.

I just want my 390 driver working again.

Driver manager shows I am using the 390 driver but when the computer starts I am told to check my drivers as there is a problem.

Running mint 19.3 cinnamon (this is an upgrade from 18.3).

As I was having issues launching a game I thought I would try a different graphics driver (340) as listed in the driver manager.

The change was not allowed and when I tried to return to the recommended 390 driver I was told that the following dependences were not on the system.

Depends: libnvidia-gl-390 but it is not installed
 nvidia-driver-390 : Depends: libnvidia-gl-390 (= 390.138-0ubuntu0.18.04.1)

I have tried repairing them through the "Package manager" I am told they can not be installed.
I tried installing them through apt and I am told there is a conflict with the 340 driver.
Also tried install the 390 driver package from Nvidia.

Any clues please how I can restore the dependencies.

Thank you.

Linux Support / Re: Looking for new email client - Resolved

HI thanks for the replies.

An email client makes managing the 5 different company email accounts easy.

As a small business I need the same abilities as you get in MS Exchange and we also have clients who write in different languages.

The strange thing is that these add-ons used to work in Thunderbird 52 but are not working now.

Have tried claws-mail and another programs from the Repros but they do not have the options I need.

Got it working but had to change settings that are only usable by people with some experience.
Basic removed any reference to blacklisted add-ons.

Using mint 18.3 64 bit.

For many years I have been using Thunderbird for my email and lighting for my calender.  There wer lots of good add-ons for highlighting and translating  emails.

Since version 60 there have been lots of issues so I rolled back to version  52 with the help of a previous topic.

But still the add-ons are not working.

So have been looking for a new email client but can not find a multi-platform system with the same apps ( spell check, calender, highlighter and translator) any one got any recommendations?

or know how to get the add-ons working in Thunderbird?

Hi have reinstalled PIX so will see what happens.

I think it must be a sofware issue or some form of conflict that happens from time to time.
