General Help & Advice / onboard web cam

I have an inbuiltt web cam on my Acer laptop which no long works since I changed over to Ubuntu.
Or how do I get my system to recognise the hardware?
What software do I have to load to get it to work?
I have searched the software but cant seem to find anything.
Any help  much appreciated
I have ubuntu 10.10.

General Help & Advice / Getting the number key pad to work

On my laptop I cannot get my numbers key pad to work. I have read all the info on keyboard configuration and tried various 'keyboards types' but cannot get the num lock key to stay alight and hence key pad to work.
Am I missing the obvious or does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Any help appreciated.

I have just started with ubuntu and am a complete novice having been with windows since....
what antivirus do you need with linux? I have a Norton account on another PC (with windows) can I use this with Linux or do I need to have a different one?

Thanks for what is probably a stupid question.
