how much do you know linux  wise

because if you know linux well then arch or slackware are a good option debian is a good choice

sudo mv -v /var/lib/apt/lists /var/lib/apt/lists-old


sudo mkdir -p /var/lib/apt/lists/partial

good work but not for me sorry but gnu/linux is all choice that to me is the thing hell there is fsf  and trisquel and things or now fsf ok'd debian but choice and for geeky nerds like me(plan 9 ) (gnu/hurd)  (bsd) (haiku) . does it matter NO .

a friend of mine was helping a person at a costa(lot) and was got but idiots she will be ok cuts and bumps but how horrid try and help and a+e

as a new person to linux i would ask you to try a "live distro" or two or three first

here are a few i would say for new people

i agree with toonman with android works well
