Pepermint 9. Using Software Manager I have disabled a superfluous Google Chrome Beta but it still appears in Menu although it can no longer be accessed. How to I get rid of it from Menu?

When setting up Peppermint9 I was asked to create the following:  Security key
                                                                                                 Computer Name
                                                                                                 User Name
                                                                                                 Password

All of which I did. Which of these do I have to enter on start-up?
Sorry-started again. In answer to "cat /etc/lsb-release I have:      DISTRIB_ID=Peppermint
                                                                                                DISTRIB_RELEASE=9
                                                                                                DISTRIB_CODENAME=bionic
                                                                                                DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Peppermint 9 NINE"
There is an "Install Peppermin 9" icon plus "Menu" with the usual options. Do I install now?

Have installed Peppermint9, Shut down and re-started and have:-"Starting up" witha picture of a padlock and space for what? Password?  Have entered the password previously entered during the installation procedure but the answer comes back:-   "cryptsetup failed , bad password or option". Several attempts entering the password and the "Starting up..." bar seems to creep along a little further each time.

Have just repeated password, enter, and now have a large amount of script starting "WARNING: Failed to connect to lumetad. Falling back to device scanning.

Laptop is ASUS ZenBook UX301.
Selecting "Disks"  from the Menu shows 4.0 GB Thumb Drive and  Volumes : Peppermint   Nine    Partition 1    1.4  GB   ISO 9660 . Partition2 Peppermin... 2.4MB FAT.
From this I assume that Peppermint9 resides on the USB stick.
Opening the Home window and moving down to Devices then  Peppermin...   Click on that and up comes a window headed Peppermint 9 containing a number of icons including  Boot,  Install to name but a few. Click on Boot and up comes  grub and  TRANS.TBL. neither of which means aything to me.

Surely I must have 9 on both the USB stick and the computer.

I have booted and end up with a window full of icons including "install". Clicked on that  and am offered  "mt86plus" and "TRANS.TBL" . The first one of these is an unknown file type and the second "[Read-Only] (Peppermint Nine /medea/robe"

After a considerable struggle I seem to have Peppermint9 on USB stick and in the "My Computer" "Devices" window. In the latter there is an instal icon. Do I  click on this?

Thanks Mark for your help. I have to get a new USB 128GB stick which will take a day or two and then I'll get started.

Peppermint / Replace peppermint7 with peppermint9

Asus UX301 Peppermint 7.

I am in the process of replacing Peppermint 7 with 9. Using 128GB USB stick. I think I have 9 on the stick but cannot proceed further. Have used  Direct download then "Disc Image Writer (Default)" which just gets me back to Direct Download again. I n other words we go round in a circle. What am I doing wrong?

Incidentally, I thought that there would be the option of removing 7 at the same time as installing 9 but so far there has been no indication of that.

Any suggestions?

Not yet.  Peppermint 7 is all I have.

I notice that DIRECT download works from the Users Guide. Can I abort the TORRENT process and use DIRECT as originally intended?

DIRECT istallation would not come up so I used the recmmended TORRENT. Was not offered a choice of REPLACE or ALONGSIDE. I have ended up with a window which refers to a 128 GB disc and instruction to "Restore disc image". Not sure what's going on here.
