Before dealing with Libre Office as you suggest I have been considering going from existing Peppermint 7 to 9 in  which case I could defer Libre business until 9 is in. However, if I simply download 9 does it overwrite 7 or do I end up with both?

Your advice on this would be most welcome.

Unfortunately not to my satisfaction. Is it possible to get back to the earlier and much more usable version? I am spending a great deal of time grappling with cmplexities of this version and not getting any real work done. Grateful for any advice.

This is Peppermint7. Recommended updates -small icon bottom right on screen. Generally update about once a month.

Version number 6.1 so far as I can see.
The option for changing "default font" is present but does not work. Have tried it many times. I cannot find the option for changing font on an open spreadsheet.

Hang on! Have just discovered "side bar" under "View" at the top of the spreadsheet window. This provides the operations I was missing. Libre Office is a very difficult system for the uninitiated to manage. Its "help" pages are not much help and it seems impossible to address a direct question.

Sorry to have troubled you. Thanks anyway.

Don't know the version but I have recently downloaded a full set of updates including from Libre Office so should be up to date.
I cannot find the options mentioned.

Lbre Calc has been modified beyond description. I can no longer change font, number style, position in cell to name but a few. I can save which is rather academic since
I cannot make any changes to my spreadsheet. Calc used to  be easy to use with options offering all the commonly used operations. What is going on?

Printing now operational. Apologies for the delay in replying but gardening season has been upon us. Thanks to all.

Thanks for that Rich J but still get reversion to Liberation sans. The Libre office default font change procedure does not work and I have been unable to find any help from the Libre web site. It's a nuisance but I can live with it. Thanks for your help.

I have a Libre Calc spreadsheet. The default font appears to be Liberation Sans but I have changed the font for my spreadsheet to Ubuntu Light. However if I move a row of cells the vacant space left reverts back to Liberation Sans. I choose Tools - Options - Fonts and follow the instructions to replace Liberation with Ubuntu. Nothing happens after several goes. Any suggestions?

Thanks Mark for your advice. Historically this printer has been hard wired to an ancient Toshiba laptop with which it has performed admirably if somewhat slowly. Would the modifications you propose interfere with the alternative Toshiba connection? In other words will it be possible to connect either laptop for occasional printing jobs.

Ideally I would like to get a wireless adaptor for the printer so that it can be shared with both laptops but my investigations into adaptors and user comments on their effectiveness has not filled me with a great deal of confidence so far.
