Even a cursory search of the www reveals linux & realtek have not played well together, historically... ... 
That said, ever since the move to the 5.0 linux kernel, my personal realtek issues have disappeared.

Mostly we're pleased to let the world know, PeppermintOS will LIVE ON! We have a build/code/dev team, rounded up from within the peppermint forums and his associates. They're currently sorting thru the voluminous work PCNetSpec left behind as they sort out what may come next for pepOS. Sunday was a bit of a worldwide trainwreck for everyone attempting to zoom into anything... anywhere... I personally didn't get to make it on air for my debut until the 2:10:whatever mark.

I am reminded that palemoon, which is a seamonkey fork... is attempting to retain some of the prior addons capability... I haven't installed that for a few years now, but may be worth a look/see?

Because I'm old school, the first addition to my PeppermintOS install is always Seamonkey, current latest release 2.53.2 beta 1

Glad you found a solution @juli95. Please remember to edit your original post in this thread and append (SOLVED) at the end of the subject line. That way future forum users with similar problems will see that a solution was found.

Most of the Legacy Addons will never work again in Seamonkey nor in Thunderbird.... There are critical bits of code that Firefox/Mozilla have chosen to deprecate permanently. My memory doesn't serve me, precisely on what those bits might be. Furthermore, most addons were long ago abandoned by their creators as it was too much work to keep up with the rapid release upgrades since Firefox 4. There just aren't enough addon creators left willing to work that hard for very small rewards.

fwiw, I just reinstalled Seamonkey 2.53 Beta 2, even though I long ago abandoned any use of addons... 


When this topic comes up in the peppermintOS forums, most folks refer to protonmail which has free and paid offerings. Yet the vast majority of users no longer use an email client at all.

hello Jeff, your laptop can easily run the 64 bit versions of many linux distros. As @Keith did previously, I'll once again advocate for installing PeppermintOS 10 which currently has support until 2013. eeerrrggg arrggghhh yes 2023!!! (i blame not enough coffee)

It had been a long while since I had been connecting my desktop to the www, I mostly used it for isolated data management as it still ran my highly modified version of Windows 98 SE. I discovered peppermintONE made my aging 2005 Toshiba F25-AV205 run faster than when it was new, way back in 2010. I began formulating a plan to upgrade the old desktop box too. Finally scrounged up the dough in 2016 after the old laptop made it clear it was on it's last legs.

Now my old Antec Aria box sports:

   this is spence from the peppermint forums. Just wanted to let you know #teampeppermint was experiencing some forum and certificate issues which are currently resolved. As many folks over here well know PeppermintOS under @PCnetSpec's ownership was something of a One Man Operation. His heirs are helping us as best they can in their time of grief to overcome and keep things running over on the peppermintOS forums.

No big surprise, just taking advantage of US tax laws... who wouldn't now?  Dell will lose billions and get a huge tax writeoff to spread over decades...  2nd advantage Microsoft will look like a  Dell takeover troll meanie...
