Run:
Code: [Select]
sudo gedit /etc/fstab

and on the last 5 lines, change all instances of AWESOME_ARCHIVE to 192.168.0.150 .. so they read

Code: [Select]
//192.168.0.150/Films /media/NAS-Films cifs iocharset=utf8,_netdev,credentials=/home/smiler/.smbcredentials,dir_mode=0775,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
//192.168.0.150/Music /media/NAS-Music cifs iocharset=utf8,_netdev,credentials=/home/smiler/.smbcredentials,dir_mode=0775,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
//192.168.0.150/MP3_Music /media/NAS-MP3_Music cifs iocharset=utf8,_netdev,credentials=/home/smiler/.smbcredentials,dir_mode=0775,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
//192.168.0.150/Photos /media/NAS-Photos cifs iocharset=utf8,_netdev,credentials=/home/smiler/.smbcredentials,dir_mode=0775,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
//192.168.0.150/Videos /media/NAS-Videos cifs iocharset=utf8,_netdev,credentials=/home/smiler/.smbcredentials,dir_mode=0775,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0

Then run:
Code: [Select]
sudo mount -a

If there are no errors, see if VLC can see those directories now

mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

run:
Code: [Select]
sudo gedit /home/smiler/.smbcredentials

does that file contain your LINUX username and password

in this format:-

username=smiler
password=yourpassword

?

where yourpassword is you actual Peppermint password.

Ah, one s missing from password.
Try'd again and no error message, just presented with another $ prompt.

Should the NAS be visible within a sub menu from the left hand drop down menu in VLC or visible in the drop down menu itself?

In VLC .. select Media>Open File .. a window will open, and the shares should now be in the left hand (Places) list.

You can add them as bookmarks in pcmanfm too if you like.

If you want to add them as bookmarks in the pcmanfm file manager, so they are always in the left hand panel .. navigate to them in pcmanfm

/media/NAS-foldername

Once it's showing the folder contents .. in pcmanfm, click Bookmarks>Add to bookmarks, give it a name and click OK .. it should now be in the left hand panel of pcmnafm.

Just makes navigating to them easier than continually having to go to /media/NAS-foldername :)

You also need to test that shutting down your PC doesn't hang for a few minutes.
