Mmm, I thought the price was good for the spec, indeed I'll probably get one next week.

You "can" get cheap stuff, indeed I can get an "xPad" for around £75 with the same spec as an iPad4 .. if I want to buy it from China .. however, although the paper spec might be the same - it won't actually "be" the same ... (article on this in BBC/Click this morning)

If anyone wants to order in Chines, let me know and stick up their catalogue (!)

WOW  :o .. the inclusion of a HDMI *and* VGA port makes this particularly interesting, not to mention the 4 USB's and Audio i/O ports.

I'm going to look into these .. I want one or two .. now just need to find where I can get one.

Hell, I'll even have a go at getting Linux on it myself.

[EDIT]

OK, found the APC website:
http://apc.io/

And registered to be notified when they're accepting orders.

I have to say, at this rate Raspberry Pi are going to be hard pushed to survive .. which would be a real pity .. no matter how much the press suggest they are going after different markets, Pi for enthusiasts, APC more aimed at multimediia PC builds, IMHO that's rubbish, they'll definitely be competing with each other .. and sadly, with all those ports, and the fact that they shouldn't have the same supply issues, the VIA APC seems to be in the stronger position .. now just need someone to figure out the Linux install :)

And for those that are interested .. a video:-

All these ARM mini-PC's... I want one. Rasberry Pi would be nice, but I'll settle for whatever I can get.

Someone should make/edit a post with a list of all the devices listed with their price, as I don't feel like reading through everything, and I don't think a lot of other people would too... Lists are handy...

:P

Yeh... "Someone" ;D... Yes, just a bit. It's that large kebab I had and 2ltr bottle of Irn-Bru.

Oooo .. Now I want a kebab (no rabbit food, chilli, lemon, garlic mayo, and onions) .. now look what you've done :'(

If you read the topic (oops sorry ;) ), you'll see most of them (particularly the cheaper ones) aren't currently on sale, at least over here yet .. so a "list" would be pretty pointless ATM, as exact prices and where to buy would be impossible to quote.

Currently, this topic is as much about what's coming as what's already here .. but the real scope is which of the cheap devices that are available or coming will "easily" run Linux as well as, or instead of Android .. it's here for people to discuss what they can find out, not as a one stop shop (at least for now) :)

Oh .. and what is it with Scots and Irn-Bru ???

It's a Scottish thing, Irn-Bru is Scottish so it's basically our national drink, lol.

EDIT: Just been looking more into the Rasberry Pi. I really want one, and Brian Lunduke has one to give away in a competition! I dunno if it's Model A or Model B though. I want the Model B version. :-\

I've been on the waiting list for a RasPi for ages.  I can't wait to get one and build my own gargoyle computer (one applaud for the first person to get that reference!!)

I didn't .. unless you mean a wearable computer ?

If you build a computer into your sleeve .. would that make it a truly "ARM based" PC ?

Well done!

Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash.

If you build a computer into your sleeve .. would that make it a truly "ARM based" PC ?

I imagine it would.  So could you run the finger command by poking someone in the head?

Let us know how you got on with it (once you got it in your hand).
I was considering it for a low wattage home server build. That is if you can replace Android with a more suitable Linux distro.
Also not sure of the IO on the board, internal USB would be nice.
