you want the /dev/sda one .. so hit the space bar so theres an asterisk in the

(*) /dev/sda

option .. then hit the tab key till OK is highlighted red at the bottom .. then hit enter to continue.

Hi again, okay all that done and ethernet cable unplugged.
My router is not showing up in the list in "Network Connections" though so can't get any further at the moment.
good news is it is booting up well and is nice and quick too  :)

OK, lets try this first ..

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-lpphy-installer

Once that's done .. reboot .. then see if your router is visible.

 :)
Hello again. I am now contacting you using the wireless network on the Dell Netbook. Brilliant!
Many thanks. I am very impressed with the quality of support on offer here.
Am afraid that you have not heard the last of me just yet as have also put Peppermint 3 on an old desktop that was not working. It all seems fine except the screen graphics which are distorted. Do I need to start a new topic to get some help with that?
