Drivers for Epson SX130 printer
« on: June 13, 2015, 03:59:45 pm »

Hi Mark,
I have upgraded to Peppermint 6 using the tutorial about installing Pep 5 on an Acer.
I have most things sorted ok but I have came to a halt with the printer.
I found the following that I used before

epson-inkjet-printer-201101w_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_i386.deb

iscan-data_1.26.0-1_all.deb

iscan_2.29.3-1~usb0.1.ltdl7_i386.deb

but I downloaded the first part and ran that but I only get an error 404 for the other 2 parts
Is there another source for updates ?

take care
Don W

Hi Mark,
I get an error when I have tried to install the first part ( epson-inkjet-printer-201101w_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_i386.deb )
Error: Failed to satisfy all dependencies (broken cache )
EDIT I have 2 instances of 'Package Installer' in the toolbar that won't delete.
EDIT EDIT I have moved upstairs and connected the printer.
I have used Menu>System Tools>Printers and loaded the Epson Printer and printed the usual Test Page.
Thanks for the help Mark. I was trying to get these bits and pieces to work on my own (with your help actually) as most of these things I have asked about before, so they must be on the forums.
I need a method of finding them, should I search using posts by don watson including google, wifi. printer, etc.

you've lost me...

Are you still having problems installing ? .. if so, can you post the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
then put those 3 files on your Desktop .. then post the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/epson-inkjet-printer-201101w_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_i386.deb
and post the output from that too.

OK, can you run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get remove --purge epson-inkjet-printer-201101w
then
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install lsb
then double click on the epson-inkjet-printer-201101w_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_i386.deb file and click the "Install" button

did it install without error ?

Hi Mark,
I ran that and it produced this

don@ldwatson ~ $ sudo apt-get -f install
[sudo] password for don:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  linux-headers-3.16.0-37 linux-headers-3.16.0-37-generic
  linux-image-3.16.0-37-generic linux-image-extra-3.16.0-37-generic
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 0 not to upgrade.
don@ldwatson ~ $
Do I need to run the other 2 parts now ? ( iscan_2.30.1-1~usb0.1.ltdl7_i386.deb and iscan-data_1.36.0-1_all.deb ) ?

install iscan-data first .. THEN iscan ;)

In other words .. install them in this order

iscan-data_1.36.0-1_all.deb
then
iscan_2.30.1-1~usb0.1.ltdl7_i386.deb
