Ubuntu internet security for a noobie
« on: March 05, 2017, 02:35:11 pm »
Hi,

I have just installed ubuntu 16.04 and am wondering if i need internet security, and if so, which one. I also remember reading something about closing unused ports, can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thank You, Trayo.

If you're behind a NAT router and this isn't something like a webserver you don't really need to do anything.

But if you wish, you can always install gufw
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install gufw
then turn on the firewall by looking for "Firewall Configuration" in the menu.
