Peppermint 8 stuck when shutting down (resolved)
« on: October 10, 2017, 02:52:46 pm »
After trying out a live usb for a few days I installed Peppermint 8 64bit on my laptop.

All went well I like the look of the system problem happens when sellect shutdown or reboot.

All starts well the progres bar is moving then it stops about 1/3 of the way and just gets stuck after 10 mins I just have to switch it off.

If you hit the "Esc" key when the shutdown appears to hang, is there any text displayed on screen ?

The keyboard is frozen and so hitting Esc has no effect.

Try running these 3 commands prior to shutting down
Code: [Select]
sudo swapoff -a
Code: [Select]
sudo ifconfig wlp2s0 down
Code: [Select]
nmcli networking off
now does it shut down properly ?

If it does that narrows things down, if it doesn't we'll try something else.

If shutting down still hangs, when it's hung does hitting Ctrl+Alt+F3 leave you at a text console with a login prompt ?

and have you still got the LiveUSB ?
