New to Linux
« on: February 26, 2018, 05:42:37 pm »
Hello,

I downloaded Linux Mint Mate last night after having issues with Windows 10. I come from a Mac background and am happy with the layout of Linux. I have installed it onto a new Lenovo laptop which took forever to learn to configure so I could install it! Anyway, I will be using it for university and teaching. Would anyone be willing to answer a couple of questions for me?

1. How do I know if Linux has wiped Windows completely off my Laptop?
2. Do I need a graphic driver? If so which is the best one? (My laptop is a lenovo ideapad 320s)
3. Do I need anti virus and cyber security software and if so which?
4. Are there any programs you would recommend?

Thank you :D

1) post the output from running:
Code: [Select]
sudo fdisk -l
in a terminal.

2) post the output from
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fz
3) No .. others may disagree, but if you're not running Linux as a server that's say serving email/files fo a Windows PC then IMHO you don't need it.

4) Programs to do what ?
