Replace peppermint7 with peppermint9
« on: November 09, 2018, 04:01:13 pm »
Asus UX301 Peppermint 7.

I am in the process of replacing Peppermint 7 with 9. Using 128GB USB stick. I think I have 9 on the stick but cannot proceed further. Have used  Direct download then "Disc Image Writer (Default)" which just gets me back to Direct Download again. I n other words we go round in a circle. What am I doing wrong?

Incidentally, I thought that there would be the option of removing 7 at the same time as installing 9 but so far there has been no indication of that.

Any suggestions?

If you're creating the LiveUSB from within Peppermint 7

a) Download the Peppermint 9 64bit ISO from here:
https://peppermintos.com/iso/Peppermint-9-20180621-amd64.iso

b) Insert your USB stick

c) Right-click on the Peppermint-9-20180621-amd64.iso file you downloaded earlier, and select "Make Bootable USB Stick"

d) In the "USB Image Writer" window that just opened, select your USB stick and click the "Write" button.

Once that finishes, reboot the PC from the USB stick.

When you decide to install Peppermint 9 (preferably from the Live session desktop icon), one of the options should be to "Replace Peppermint - Wipe the drive and install Peppermint"
(be aware this will do EXACTLY as it says and wipe the drive, so make sure you've copied off any files you need to keep FIRST)

Thanks Mark for your help. I have to get a new USB 128GB stick which will take a day or two and then I'll get started.
