Scanner not working
« on: October 08, 2019, 09:16:16 pm »
Hey guys can't get my scanner to work on my netbook, Asus Peppermint latest version. It says unable to connect.
My computers: Asus notebook x102B, running on Peppermint 9. Asus c300 Chromebook and an old Dell inspiron mini netbook running on Mint.

What says "unable to connect" ?

What's the make/model of scanner ?

How is the scanner connected ?

Simple Scan on the Asus notebook/netbook says it can't connect. The scanner is the same one I had been using on the old Mint Dell netbook ( which I have now given to my mate Dave as he needed a small laptop to type up documents on). It's an old one but still in good nick and was working great on the Mint netbook. It's a Packard Bell Diamond 1200. Just plugged into the netbook via a USB cable.

Thank you Mark, I'll do that later ( after my mate Dave has been and gone and cleaned my pet rats' cage out lol). i'm on the Chromebook right now, so will have to set up the netbook.

Hi Melissa

I used to use that scanner which I'm sure is based on a Mustek Bearpaw and in order to get it working I had to place a firmware file at /usr/share/sane/gt68xx,

If so I have a copy of that file if you need it
