Toshiba Equium stuck in "BOOTMGR is missing"
« on: July 16, 2021, 11:20:12 am »
I want to put Linux on this laptop which I bought sold as seen and totally untested.
It had Windows Vista on it.
The problem is that none of the "F" buttons actually work so I cannot get into BIOS.
Booting up seems to fail entirely and I do not seem to be able to do anything about it.

The way to get into the BIOS is usually to tap the "Delete" key while rebooting the machine, but have a look at https://support.dynabook.com/support/viewContentDetail?soid=403623 for Toshiba machines.
That it fails to boot into Vista is not necessarily a problem as Vista is probably u/s.

I suggest that you obtain a Linux Live Disc and boot from that as the disc is usually the first boot medium to be searched.  If it doesn't, then please post the error messages.
