Mailx on Buildroot
« on: December 16, 2021, 03:18:06 pm »
Hi there,

I am trying to send an email using en embedded system running buildroot.

I am currently trying to integrate the mailx package to send an email and I have been receiving the following error:

/usr/lib/sendmail: No such file or directory

I have also tried installing mailutils in busybox but nothing is working!

Hi and Welcome,

If you can provide an example of what you're doing, that would help us help you, because on the face of it SENDMAIL hasn't been installed, or at least on at "/usr/lib".  You could try to find it with "which sendmail" or "find / -name sendmail".

...but, I used to use MUTT for what sounds like a similar use case:

apt-get install mutt

vi ~/.muttrc

set realname="test"
set from="[email protected]"
set use_from=yes
set smtp_url="smtp://[email protected]:587"
set smtp_pass="password"

mutt -s "first test" [email protected] </dev/null

Hope this helps, but you are you sure SENDMAIL has been installed?
