« on: September 07, 2010, 03:22:36 pm »
I have a windows vista operating system, the other day i could not boot my laptop, i got error , stop 0x0000C1F5, I have been told the file that is corrupted is $TxfLog. I want to know how to get rid of this file.
Can you tell me how to delete my old windows operating system and make sure my new operating system boots directly from my dvd drive when i try to run my recovery didk for windows?
can i have two O/S running on my laptop and how do i make windows the prefered?

I am a complete novice, thanking you in advance.

I'm afraid this is a "Windows" question, not something we can answer here.

>Can you tell me how to delete my old windows operating system

This we can do!  :)

I'm sorry, but this is a support forum for Linux ... if you want to recover / use your Windows installation, you will need to address your questions to a Microsoft based forum or call Microsoft ..

If on the other hand you want to install Linux and remove Windows from your system, all you need is a Linux installation CD (I would recommend Ubuntu desktop) , boot from the CD and the Linux installation will remove Windows for you as part of the installation process.

MP meant there a Distro installation CD. I'd second Ubuntu Desktop.
