Heh … you’re probably right
If the new battery still plays up, you may consider a BIOS update … but I wouldn’t risk it unless it’s absolutely NECESSARY

The new battery arrived this morning. Unfortunately its damaged beyond use - it looks like it’s been run over on one end. I’m in correspondence with the vendor. One thing in this regard is nothing from the pictures or description of it prepared me for it’s size and weight, a bit OTT! Assuming I exchange it I might try and downgrade it from a 7200mAh one to some around 4500.
That closing clip on the touch-pad connector was driving me nuts. I spent an hour on it yesterday trying to get it fitted back in. Today I was inspecting it under a 10* jewelers loupe trying to divine how it was meant to slot in. Then a short while ago my wife arrived from work, asked it she could help and with no further ado slotted it in within 30 seconds. A completely stunned facepalm moment for me!!
Anyway, so right now we seem to be all set I think. All I have to do is get the keyboard back in but don’t think that will be a problem. One comment about removing it though, I found you have to be quite bold with the top three retaining tabs. If you’re nervous and gentle it seems you’re more likely to pop off keys from the board, and how reversible that is I have no idea. You have to get the end of the screwdriver down quite deep before you start levering, that’s my tip.
Agreed … keyboard can be a pain … and wives can be very resourceful at times, though I’ll bet you got that smug “aint you blokes supposed to be good at this stuff” glance
I got the ‘Ahahahaha I wish I had have had a camera to capture the expression on your face!’ comment
Still… a joint effort is fine by me. And on which note, once again Mark, many thanks for your help in guiding me though this!
Caption for the photo…
‘Trust me with this darling, it’ll be ok!’
hahahaa … even better
You’re more than welcome … but you’re the one that did all the work … oh, wait…
