I have a SUNFIRE x4600 box that has been upgraded from SLES10sp1 to SLES10sp4 via sp2 and sp3. Have set up the networking ie. NICs, bonds, etc. I have set some bridges up, based on NIC aliass set in the 30-persistent file. However, every time the box is rebooted, it adds duplicate mac address entries for the aliass I originally set, but resets the alias back to the original eth name. Each time we delete the duplicates, It recreates them on reboot. Obviously, i could decide not to alias the NIC names, but I have this working on an identical system. Please help.
Hi navster183, and welcome to the forum
They are probably being added by 75-persistent-net-generator.rules
So create a file with a higher number, such as:-
Which should be loaded after 75-persistent-net-generator.rules … and add you custom rules in there.
ie. copy an entry from 30-persistent-net.rules … such as:-
to 90-local.rules … then in 90-local.rules edit it with your desired alias … such as:-
SAVE 90-local.rules … and reboot to test.
