Hercules delux webcam. For Linux mint (SOLVED)

I’ve been looking at the forums and this cam seems to have issues with Linux in general
Can anyone put be right on this
I’ve looked on the Hercules website but there is nothing at all about Linux.http://www.hercules.com/us/developers/

FIRST run this:

lsmod | grep gspca

is anything listed ?

if not, try running:

sudo modprobe gspca_main

does the webcam now work ?

Mothing Mark
the first input did nothing
the second input did nothing

I know the second one won’t return anything in the terminal … but have you checked your camera in something like skype ?

ok just downloading it

another trivial question

i have all my Wma music files on a usb stick what is the best wat/programm for downloading them on to mint

cam works on skype thanks

i have all my Wma music files on a usb stick what is the best wat/programm for downloading them on to mint

I don’t understand the question ?

If they’re on a USB stick, the stick should just open a window when inserted … doesn’t it ?

And what is a “wat/programm” ?

wat prog is bad typo

re the stick no is dosn’t open at all

saying that its just opened

So you’re sorted now ?

I am Thanks

i Guess its just getting used to where everything is and can be found

Yep, there’s certainly a small learning curve involved, but Mint does a good job of minimising it

Check your webcam works in skype after a reboot … if it doesn’t, we may have to manually tell the driver to load at each boot.
