Install Gnome Plugins

Hi, I’m trying to install this https://micheleg.github.io/dash-to-dock/download.html but for some permission feature I can’t copy and paste. My terminal:

sudo cp /home/Myusername/downloads/dash-to-dock@micxgx.gmail.com.v30.shell-extension.zip /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/dash-to-dock@micxgx.gmail.com/

Oh, I was able to reset the Gnome and install using the Tweak ;D. But dash to dock for Buntu 14.04’ gnome don’t have the option to place the plugin on the bottom, only on the left, just like Unity Launcher :'(.

Are you using standard Ubuntu, or Ubuntu Gnome edition ?

That is a Gnome 3 shell extension, it’s not designed for standard Ubuntu which doesn’t use Gnome 3 shell, it uses the Unity desktop.
(Unless of course you’re using Ubuntu Gnome)

If all you want is a bottom bock bar, try installing cairo-dock:

sudo apt-get install cairo-dock

Yes, I have Cairo, but I don’t like it. “Too much Mac” for me. I asked the Developer, Michele, and she sent me this https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/288 but lol, that’s too much Smallville’s Chloe Sullivan hacking style for me :P. I’m more Dog with a Blog type of user.

There are other options, such as docky:

sudo apt-get install docky

which looks like this:

or the more ‘simplified’ plank … see instructions here:
