Installing PEAK 138508AGPK DVB-T Digital TV Hybrid PCI Card

In tvtime, what have you got set as the video source ?

Setup video source
Input Configuration > Change Video Source > Setup source as per your setup

Setup frequencies table
You need to setup the channels you are receiving with the tuner … try the europe frequencies table.
Channel management > Change Frequency table > Select new table

Scan Channel
Finally, you need to scan for channels
Channel management > Change Frequency table > Scan channels for signal > Back > Exit

did it find anything ?

You could also try running:

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/saa7134.conf

and changing:
options saa7134 card=78 tuner=54
to
options saa7134 card=81 tuner=54

SAVE the file and REBOOT … then test again in TvTime.

Not got anywhere with it, even got 2 boxes to test it on and still nothing

Did you try the bit I just added to my last posting ?

No but will give it a try

I’ve been doing a bit of searching myself and found this JustLinux Forums
Don’t know if its where you got any of your info from, will any of it be any more help (if I cant get it working after trying your last suggestion?).

That was one of the places I noticed “card=81”

Tried it but still not working.
I have noticed something tho’… In Arista, when selecting a location, strangely the card showed up, in three formats. I didnt think to get a screenshot but after it has finished converting I will upload a screenshot.

I am also going to start another thread on trying to get the TV card to work with VLC so not to clutter this thread up too much.

How do I get a screenshot when theres a drop-down menu, I cant use ‘Priint-Screen’ as this doesnt work when theres a drop-down menu.

Use the Screenshot application, and set say a 10 second delay … then quickly pull up the menu, and wait for the screenshot to be taken.

[EDIT]

If the tuner isn’t being configured correctly … it’s not going to work in ANY application.

Can you run tvtime … then open a terminal and run:

dmesg > ~/dmesg.txt

The post the file called dmesg.txt (that you’ll find in your Home directory) as an attachment.

Genius ;D 8)

Cheers

Heres the .txt file

Having another bash at my TV Card. I have opened Terminal as root and I am having a bit more success.
I have found I can actually get it to scan channels now as before I was opening Terminal as normal and it was not letting me scan channels.
The only problem is that TVTime is coming up as showing No Signal but I have got it connected to my Video recorder which has my TiVo box connected to it so it is getting a signal and I am also playing a video so it will get either of the signals.
At the moment I am at a loss where to begin???

Amazingly, I’ve managed to get my TV Card working with TVTime but now theres no sound!
I typed

sudo apt-get --purge remove tvtime

and it cleared what I was having problems with before - some config file that wouldn’t let me set the region e.g. Europe/USA etc…

Well, anyway, now I have no sound…

Have you connected the TV/Capture card to the soundcard ?

Silly question…how do I do that?

Ive lost it now

I was looking through other sites and saw this http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/ubuntu-63/ubuntu10-10-there-is-no-volume-in-tvtime-838048/

tvtime-configure --device=/dev/video1 --mixer=/proc/asound/EasyALSA1:monitor

so I tried it and lost picture, I think I changed EasyALSA1 to SAA7134.
Any idea how I can fix it?

Magaged to get picture back but still no sound…

Strangely it works through VLC with these settings (See screenshot) INCLUDING AUDIO!!!
But saying that, TVTime DOES NOT RECORD so I can forget that program and use VLC to record.
What I don’t understand is I did NOTHING different to last time with either TVTime OR VLC, you can see what settings I ‘tweaked’ in VLC and ONLY them, so WHAT id different THIS TIME?

On about recording from VLC, where’s the record button???

Go to View
Put tick by Advanced Controls
Buttonbar appears at the bottom with record button on it

Thanks Sezo, sorry for asking what is a simple question but I hardly ever use VLC.

Now, since using VLC, I just tried using TVTime again and got;
‘frames too short from uvcvideo’

and then tried VLC and got
‘Your input can’t be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL ‘v4l2:///dev/video1’. Check the log for details.’

Where can I find the log or have you an idea what I can do to fix the problem?
