Linux Wireless adapter?

Hi, new to linux (using xubuntu and very impressed!). Probably a silly question or one you get asked repeatedly, is there such a thing as a USB wireless adapter that works ‘out of the box’ with Linux/Ubuntu? I’ve read lots of threads that talk about using ndiswrapper and issuing endless commands via the terminal to try to get different models to work. Is there such a thing as…dare I say it…a plug and play wireless adapter with Linux?

Your best bet would be to check the Ubuntu WirelessCardsSupported page… Here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported
but most wireless chipsets are supported, either by default, or by installing an external driver

This is brilliant. Found one on the list that looks like it should work no problem at all. Many thanks for you help.
