Mint 17 mate 64bit update manager issues (Resolved)

I get the following error messages when running update manager is this a problem that needs action?

Ignoring file ‘getdeb.list.bck’ in directory ‘/etc/apt/sources.list.d/’ as it has an invalid filename extensionFailed to fetch http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu/dists/qiana-getdeb/apps/binary-amd64/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 104.28.25.125 80]

Failed to fetch http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu/dists/qiana-getdeb/apps/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 104.28.25.125 80]
Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I am still receiving updates.

Thanks in advance.

You can get rid of the first error by removing the offending file:

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list.bck

For the others it appears that the /qiana-getdeb distribution no longer exists.
Have a look here:http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu/dists/

What’s the output from:

inxi -r

?

I’m pretty sure those getdeb entries should read “trusty” not “qiana” … I don’t think getdeb have ever followed the mint naming convention have they ?

userone@Office2 ~ $ inxi -r

run:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list

and change any mention fo “qiana” to “trusty
so

deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu qiana-getdeb apps

becomes

deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu trusty-getdeb apps

SAVE the file and exit gedit

now run:

sudo apt-get update

and if there are any errors post them back here

userone@Office2 ~ $ sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list
[sudo] password for userone:
sudo: gedit: command not found
userone@Office2 ~ $

OK I sorted this myself “gedit” is a text editor and in mint 17 mate the text editor is pluma so changed them over.

Update completed with no issues.

try

sudo pluma /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list

Resolved.

Thanks.

You’re welcome
