Need old SSD + ZIF - AOA 110 ZG5 ZIF cable failed again

Well sure, if I knew what that was. BY definition, any system running off a stick or disc is a LIVE OS, ain’t it? Actually I hate it cause it doesn’t even have a Writer. The time to do that was when my healthy clean Pep3 was still accessible. But what does that have to do with not reading any USB, or SD card with these input/output errors. Thats not a stick problem, I think, it’s damage I did to motherboard with the bleach (I think) or superglue. I’m about to make another big dissembly effort, but wish I could get a new ZIF cable for it.

BY definition, any system running off a stick [s]or disc[/s] is a LIVE OS, ain't it?

NO

A “Live” session is running from a non-writeable compressed image, and using a “persistence” file to write any changes … the persistence file is then cleverly layered over the top of the non writeable image.

Effectively a LiveUSB is exact the same as a LiveCD, ie. NOTHING can be changed in the original image … so it has to use some clever wizardry, dark magic, and a liberal sprinkling of pixie dust to be able to save changes.

A “proper” installation to a USB stick would be the same as a hard drive installation, ie. the whole file system is writeable.

So you need 2 sticks (pep3 + target) and functioning OS. BTW, just upgraded to latest 10.4 kernal 2.6-32-50. Think the old one had some serious vulnerabilities- had 2 cursor freeze crashes. Just looking to burn live CD to maybe install on lappy- Pep3 have later dist than 11-2012?
Anything special about doing install onto jump drive (besides getting confused and trashing your OS ;D). Any ideas about input/output (what section of motherboard would that be on). As it is now can’t save files on anything removable- only way to transfer anything is save it online.

So the saveable part is actually on the Peppermint3 folder on the LIVE stick, not on that other folder (which never allowed access)- made big one 700Mb-1gb. Stick must be under/equal to 2gb, and not HDSD, right, since just got a bunch of micro SD’s.

Now it’s Peppermint4 from 6-2013. Is that any bigger- I have brutal space limits (<7gig)
