None USA Distributions

Hi - I have been playing around with Linux on and off for a while but would like to know what none USA distributions are available. British or European would be more acceptable to me since Mr Trump is so protectiveness of his country that i think it is time for us to dump USA products, where we can.

thanks

Hi flyerdave, and welcome to the forum…

PeppermintOS is British … created right here in Cornwall

Or you can search distributions by country of origin on Distrowatch
https://distrowatch.com/search.php?origin=United%20Kingdom

I think this idea is a bit spurious.

According to Distrowatch Ubuntu originated on The Isle of Man. Do you think that is where all of the developers stay? Ubuntu is “based” on Debian.

According to Distrowatch Distrowatch Debian is “Global”. Do you think that some developers might come from the USA?

According to Distrowatch Peppermint is based on Debian (Global) and Lubuntu (France AND Taiwan).

"The Siphonaptera" is a nursery rhyme, sometimes referred to as Fleas.

Big fleas have little fleas,
Upon their backs to bite 'em,
And little fleas have lesser fleas,
and so, ad infinitum.

Where is this pure distro, made in one (non-USA) country, with no developers from the USA, not “based” on any other distro with any connections to the USA?
…err Linux Torvalds lives and works in the USA…

Well if you want to be silly and take it to extremes…

But I’m gathering the OP meant which country is the company which creates the DISTRIBUTION from.
(as opposed to “in which country was every line of code authored”)

Indeed the OP specifically mentioned “distribution” in the question, and at no point asked where the “developers” were from … Debian do NOT create the Ubuntu and Peppermint DISTRIBUTIONS, and Debian itself is just a DISTRIBUTION of software from other sources/projects.

That’s just bloody ridiculous what possible statement do you think you’re making boycotting Linux distributions created in the USA because you don’t like their president, Linux Distros are created all over the world (inc the USA) by talented people who share their skill and talents for free to everyone worldwide

If I had to guess I’d say the OP may be worried about the possibility of mandated back doors or something similar.

Whether it’s a justified ‘worry’ would probably be an entire discussion in its own right (but not asked here) … so please let’s just answer the question without making it political or trying to second guess the OP’s intent.
