Printer connection Peppermint 7

HP C4280 printer hardwired to Asus UX501. Peppermint 7. After “Printer Settings” Test Print only proceeds halfway before the printer stalls. Unable to print Libre documents. Any suggestions?

How did you install the printer ?

Have you tried deleting the printer in:-
menu > System Tools > Printers

then installing hplip and hplip-gui

sudo apt-get install --reinstall hplip hplip-data hplip-gui

then adding the printer via:-

menu > Preferences > HPLIP Toolbox

Thanks Mark for your advice. Historically this printer has been hard wired to an ancient Toshiba laptop with which it has performed admirably if somewhat slowly. Would the modifications you propose interfere with the alternative Toshiba connection? In other words will it be possible to connect either laptop for occasional printing jobs.

Ideally I would like to get a wireless adaptor for the printer so that it can be shared with both laptops but my investigations into adaptors and user comments on their effectiveness has not filled me with a great deal of confidence so far.

Changing/reinstalling the printer drivers on one PC sholdn’t affect the other at all.

Printing now operational. Apologies for the delay in replying but gardening season has been upon us. Thanks to all.
