Printing with Scribus (SOLVED)

According to this:
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Samsung/Samsung-CLP-325w

you can use the “CLP-320splc.ppd” driver from the older Samsung Unified driver … with a few modifications.

Dunno if it’ll help, but can’t hurt to try.

I’ve attached a pre-modified version of that PPD below.

Also noticed that you use Custom page size (but not properly formed):

D [26/Jan/2014:13:40:16 +0000] [Job 113] Page size: Custom D [26/Jan/2014:13:40:16 +0000] [Job 113] Width: , height: , absolute margins: 0, 0, , D [26/Jan/2014:13:40:16 +0000] [Job 113] Relative margins: , , ,

So your printer would not know what to do with it.
This could be down to Scribus rather than your printer.

But there is no harm in trying Marks suggestion for a different driver.

I tried Marks driver but the printer didn’t work at all, but I maybe should have deleted the printer first and I didn’t have a lot of time to spend on it, I’ve been a bit preoccupied with getting my NAS up and nrunning so this is something I intend coming back to

Many thanks

Graeme

Ok I deleted the printer and re-installed using Marks driver but I get this error message during the installation process

Printer 'Samsung-CLP-320-Series' requires the '/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstopxl' program but it is not currently installed. Please install it before using this printer.

Graeme

OK, I gather “pstopxl” is the old name for “gstopxl” from the ghostscript-cups package… so I’ve replaced the 2 instances of “pstopxl” with “gstopxl” in the attached PPD.

the other option would be to create a symlink called pstopxl that points to gstopxl

Ok that driver works perfect and printed from Scribus perfectly

nothing more to say except thank you and nothing more to do than mark it solved

Many thanks

Graeme

Heh … glad it worked, was all a bit of a guess, but sometimes these thing work

To tell the truth I wasn’t expecting that to work, but thought WFT worth a shot :o … goes to show sommat, though not 100% sure what ATM, more surprised that anything ???

to be honest I didn’t think it was gonna work either, my instincts were telling me this is gonna be one these things we’re not gonna get an answer to

it’s good to be wrong sometimes

but well done you did it again

Many thanks

Graeme

Heh … don’t thank me, the guy who posted on openprinting.org, he did the heavy lifting

But for my teeny weeny little tweak, you’re welcome
