remove the dual boot Win10 and Peppermint 8

Hi Mark,
I have an Acer Aspire 5732Z that dual boots Windows 10 and Peppermint 8. I want to remove the Peppermint 8 and leave the Win 10 setup for my grandson.
Is there an easy way to remove Peppermint 8 ??

Don W
EDIT This is very cheeky I think as it is really a Windows problem ??

Is it a UEFI system ?

If you boot into Peppermint, what’s the output from:

efibootmgr -v

Hi Mark,
It says “The program ‘efibootmgr’ is currently not installed. You can install it by typing sudo apt install efibootmgr”

Okay does running:

[ -d /sys/firmware/efi ] && echo UEFI || echo BIOS

return UEFI or BIOS ?

If UEFI, install efibootmgr:

sudo apt-get install efibootmgr

and post the output from

efibootmgr -v

Hi Mark,
It returns BIOS
don@ldwatson ~ $ [ -d /sys/firmware/efi ] && echo UEFI || echo BIOS
don@ldwatson ~ $

EDIT and
don@ldwatson ~ $ efibootmgr -v
The program ‘efibootmgr’ is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt install efibootmgr
don@ldwatson ~ $
Does this help ?

Okay it appears to have been installed in legacy BIOS mode which makes things more difficult.

If you remove Linux now, you’ll not be able to boot Windows unless you reinstall the Windows bootloader.

Do you have a Windows installation disk ? … and if not, is Win10 32bit or 64bit ?

Hi Mark,
The windows spec. is “Windows 10 Home, Version 1709, OS Build 16299.371.
It was installed by up dating (free) from Win 7.
I can leave it alone if this is going to cause a problem.
EDIT No, there is no installation disc. I have the 'Version number and the OS Build number” for the windows installation. ??

On the odd occasion that Ive lost the ability to boot, I use "boot repair disc" and so far its worked a treat.

If it`s any help.
