Skype isn't picking up on my mic?

Have you tried it with all the “options” (in alsa-base.conf) ?

such as -

options snd-hda-intel model=auto
or
options snd-hda-intel model=auto position_fix=1
or
options snd-hda-intel model=auto probe_mask=1
or
options snd-hda-intel model=auto position_fix=1 probe_mask=1

and then, run through them again but with a different model=

Models to try for the ALC882/883/885/888/889 -

I’d start with auto then try it with the position_fix=1 option added, then with the probe_mask=1 option, then with both…

then try the same with the acer models

then try the same with the 3stack models (see below)

3stack would mean you have 3 input/outputs (think sockets), your speakers count as one… so if you have 1 mic socket and 1 headphone socket, thats 3 (stack)… dig means you also have an SPDIF (digital) output.

I know that’s a lot of work, but you’ll probably find one combo that works.

And remember to reboot between changes.
