[SOLVED] Corrupt install of LibreOfffice (Ubuntu11.10)

[shadow=red,left][/shadow]I can’t remember how it happened but somehow I’ve got a corrupt LibreOfffice (v3.4).

I have tried to update it through Synaptic Package Manager. I have even tried the remove purge commands in Terminal, that didn’t work either.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

BTW, this is on Mrs Pookys lappy.

Try this …

Make sure ALL LibreOffice apps are closed … then open a terminal and run:

mv -v ~/.config/libreoffice ~/.config/libreoffice-broken

Now see if LibereOffice will start

Doesnt work, I get…

jennybunny61@jenny-Prebsario-CQ56-Notebook-PC:~$ mv -v ~/.config/libreoffice ~/.config/libreoffice-broken
mv: cannot stat `/home/jennybunny61/.config/libreoffice’: No such file or directory
jennybunny61@jenny-Prebsario-CQ56-Notebook-PC:~$

try:-

mv -v ~/.libreoffice ~/.libreoffice-broken

That doesn’t work either

jennybunny61@jenny-Prebsario-CQ56-Notebook-PC:~$ mv -v ~/.libreoffice ~/.libreoffice-broken
mv: cannot stat `/home/jennybunny61/.libreoffice’: No such file or directory
jennybunny61@jenny-Prebsario-CQ56-Notebook-PC:~$

what;s the output from:

find ~/ -name *libreoffice

Found it

/home/jennybunny61/.config/.libreoffice

OK, run:

mv -v ~/.config/.libreoffice ~/.config/.libreoffice-broken

then try LibreOffice

Still get ‘General Error’

Okey dokey … let’s purge LibreOffice, delete the configs, then reinstall it.

Run:

sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice*

then:

rm -r ~/.config/.libreoffice

then:

rm -r ~/.config/.libreoffice-broken

then

sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Now does it work ?

Get this at the end…

ERROR: unopkg cannot be started. The lock file indicates it as already running. If this does not apply, delete the lock file at:
/var/lib/libreoffice/share/prereg/.lock
dpkg: error processing libreoffice-common (–configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Having problems with the keyring too…

Make sure ALL instances of libreoffice are closed, then run:

sudo rm /var/lib/libreoffice/share/prereg/.lock

then do what I said in my last posting again.

That’s fixed it. ;D
Thanks a Million

No problem
