Strange tabbing in Libre Office

Hey guys…I was pasting a previously saved document (originally typed in an old Windows computer) to edit it and it went like this- weird tabbing… left hand side the text is off the page.I did select all and usually I can move the tab things by the ruler ( sorry not sure of the names for these things) to align. The left is fine, but the right is weird- cannot move it.

What was the original file format?

Oh I think it was Word 2000!

Kingsoft Office seems to be better at getting Microsoft Office formatting correct … but then there are rumours it contains a lot of Microsoft code … the Chinese eh

Maybe all you need to do is adjust the margins ?

It looks more like it is a textbox which is too big for the page.
You could try to select all text (in the textbox) and reduce the font size to see if that makes any difference.

Or try changing the page view to Web Layout
Go to View->Web Layout
This should expose the full width of the textbox. So you may be able to resize it to fit the normal page width.

Otherwise next time you could try to use Edit - Paste special.
Using Paste special, you can choose the text format to be pasted.
Depending on formats, you can copy different text attributes.

Yes, I had been doing that, but this time they will not adjust Mark.

No it wasn’t a text box, but I will try those things, thanks.

would you like to try Kingsoft Office ?

EDIT: I did type in a reply- no idea why it vanished. i said is it better than Libre Office?

I actually downloaded it, it looks great, loads much faster than Libre too

@ Melissa … you quoted me, but never gave an answer :o

@ Contra … Are you getting any warning about missing fonts ?

See above!

“Better” is relative.

It seems to handle formatting of Microsoft Office .docx and .xlsx better than LibreOffice

Nothing stopping you from having both KO and LO installed at the same time

Does it take up much space on the computer?

About 300MB

Have I got enough space? You saw that it doesn’t have much memory…

“Memory” and hard drive “space” are two completely different things

What’s the output from

df -h

Oh I always get that confused!

Have I got enough space?

You have 28GiB free space (out of 37GiB) hard drive.
Plenty enough for a at least a hundred of Kingsoft Office installs

Thanks SeZo.
