The world is a good place again (Brother Scanner fix)

well I have a Brother MFC-J615W and have been able to print in 32 bit for some time now, thanks to installing files from here
just find your printer and install both cups and LPR driver (I found installing LPR then cups worked ← in that order)

but I couldn’t get the scanner to work even though I installed the driver found on that page…here is what I did

follow these direction while in Sudo, (so you can write to the file)

Ubuntu 9.10, 10.04, 10.10, 11.4, 11.10, 12.04, 12.10

  1. Open “/lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules” file.
  2. Add the following two lines to the end of the device list. (Before the line “# The following rule will disable …”):
If there is “LABEL=“libsane_rules_end””, add the following 2 lines before “LABEL=“libsane_rules_end””.

The lines to be added---------------------------
