You can install the new drivers by doing:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

I did highlight this at the end of both Part 1 & Part 2 of my tutorial videos on updating to Kernel 3.3 & Updating to NVIDIA 295.33 thread.

See here:

will that work on peppermint os 2

yes it will i clicked on your link.

thanks do i have to update my kernel? i dunno why i didnt see this when i wrote in the search box, but i see it now :smiley: many thanks.

Yeah works on PeppermintOS 2, as I’m running PeppermintOS 2 myself with the new drivers.

No you don’t need to do the kernel update, I wouldn’t advise it either unless you have a need too, as it’s a non-stable kernel just now.

SMXI have useful scripts for sorting Nvidia drivers, I’ve used them to sort out my system a few times.

Couple of posts /threads re/ nvidia drivers-kernel (they can cause issues with peppermint)

STARTUP-MANAGER breaks nvidia drivers:

kernel 3.01 on peppermint 2:

Cant say I’ve ever had these issues, and I’m on the 295.33 driver and kernel 3.3. :slight_smile:

Ahh, but you did have problems with the default NVIDIA drivers IIRC :wink: … and you’re not using kernel 3.01, though I suppose the newer drivers will probably have fixed the issue with 3.01 too.

Which begs the question whether they have resolved the Startup Manager issue.

True, my guess is because they’re so old now.
