WINE programs stoped working (solved)

I am using Mint 17 64bit MATE… everything was working fine on Friday.

Now none of the programs installed with WINE will open and elements of WINE in the list of programs are missing.

Because of the issues with WINE 64bit and Office software we had previously forced an install of the 32bit WINE system.

This has been working well for 6 months and is still working on my laptop with the same operating system.

I have tried using repair damaged packages from the boot menu with no result.

Any help please…

Just searched for wine in a terminal and it says wine is not installed yet the folder is still there along with wine back up.

I have tried using repair damaged packages from the boot menu with no result.
How did you do that?

Have you tried to install WINE?

sudo apt-get install wine
What happens? Or re-install WINE
sudo apt-get install --reinstall wine
Again, what happens?

It is possible that the folder contains the files for WINE configuration.

What Office program did you use? OpenOffice and LibreOffice can read and write a variety of formats.

Can you post the output from:

dpkg -l | grep wine

from both the broken and working PC’s for comparison.

Reinstalling wine
“sudo apt-get install --reinstall wine” seems to have fixed the problem.

thanks for the tip I had forgotten the --reinstall command…

Thanks again.
