So the Bios updates are not in numerical order.
I will flash it the way i have been to 3310 and look into the release note and your flash procedure.
I will let you know the outcome tomorrow.
cheers for your help.
Rob.
They ARE in numerical (and chronological) order, see the release notes for version numbers and release dates … 3114 comes before 3309 which comes before 3310
Best of luck

This 33 thing’s got to me.lol
Heh … happens to us all, and it IS late
Be aware … IF you’re going to use the 3310 version from the Acer website … you want the files from the Dos_Flash directory (inside the .zip file).
And you’ll probably need a USB stick smaller than 2GB … as the FAT(16) file system can’t handle single partitions any larger … or format it as FAT32, but I can’t say for sure if either the “Recovery” or “FreeDOS” methods support FAT32
Your bios procedure worked…
BIOS now updated to v0.3310
Still the same problem though.
Rob.
I’ll get back to this a little later … I need to create a Peppermint LiveUSB, and check sommat.
Are you 100% sure the fan is running when you attempt to boot from the LiveUSB ?
And I take it you’ve tried the capacitor discharge trick ? … remove power lead and battery, then hold the power button for 30 seconds, then reattach the power cable and battery.
Just as a matter of interest … does it still shut down if you try booting the LiveUSB without the battery connected ?
Have you tried running memtest to check the RAM ?
Have you tried a different USB stick ? <— to rule out the stick ?
Have you got an SD card inserted ?
have you got ANY peripherals attached ?
It is a PeppermintOS Two 32bit (i386) LiveUSB … correct ?
OK, try this …
Turn off your AA1 … insert the LiveUSB stick into one of the ports … turn on your AA1, and as soon as you see the “Acer Empowerng People” screen, hit F12 … use the arrow keys to select USB HDD (if USB HDD isn’t listed, tell me what is) and hit Enter to boot … as soon as you see the Peppermint boot screen, hit the Tab key …
You will now see some writing at the bottom of the screen that ends with:-
initrd.lz quiet splash –
(and a flashing cursor)
Use the Backspace key to remove quiet splash – … so it now just ends with:-
initrd.lz
Now hit Enter to boot.
It should now display what’s going on during the boot sequence … try to get a handle on what is being displayed just before it shuts down … and let me know what it is.
I have only got it working…
I ordered 1gb of RAM which came today, so i split it open to install and had to remove and install the touch pad ribbon, when it was all back together the touchpad worked and it booted first time to Peppermint…lol
There was a kink in the ribbon, so it must have been something to do with that, or the ribbon hadn’t been installed properly from the factory.
Thanks for all your help Mark your a star…
Did you say you have a tutorial on the Peppermint os?
Rob.
Great news
There’s a tutorial for installing it … and adding the software you may want … and doing the little “tweaks” that need applying for things like getting the SD card reader working, and the mic in Skype etc.
Here:
http://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=9782.0
After doing that, the rest (as far as “using” peppermint goes) will hopefully be pretty self explanatory
But if you have any questions … you know where to find me
Once again thanks Mark, you kept me sane in giving me the belief that we would get it sorted eventually.
Rob.
You’re very welcome … not that I did much
